Challenge Accepted: Tackling the Climate Crisis
We are living in global climate emergency. Scientific evidence proves that human-caused emissions are accelerating the change in climate at a record pace. But there is hope. “Challenge Accepted: Tackling the Climate Crisis” explores integrated solutions to address the effects of the climate crisis through meaningful building decarbonization strategies. This presentation highlights how ASHRAE is equipping its members with new knowledge, expanding energy efficient building design efforts and providing climate leadership and resources to the global built environment.

ASHRAE established the Global Training Center for Building Excellence to create and deliver regularly scheduled high-quality curricula based training that is conveniently available and relevant to the needs of practitioners in the Middle East & North Africa (MENA). Located in Dubai, UAE, the center is the first ASHRAE training center established outside of Society Headquarters in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.
Trainings offered in the center are customized and scalable, accounting for climate, culture, suppliers, energy sources, prices, codes and construction practices for the MENA region. The center’s instructors are practicing engineers familiar with HVAC&R complexities of the Middle East.

ASHRAE Falcon officers during the 15th Chapter anniversary
- ASHRAE, founded in 1894, is a global society advancing human well-being through sustainable technology for the built environment. The Society and its members focus on building systems, energy efficiency, indoor air quality, refrigeration and sustainability within the industry. Through research, standards writing, publishing and continuing education, ASHRAE shapes tomorrow’s built environment today. ASHRAE was formed as the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers by the merger in 1959 of American Society of Heating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHAE) founded in 1894 and The American Society of Refrigerating Engineers (ASRE) founded in 1904.
- In 2012, as part of a rebranding, ASHRAE began doing business as “ASHRAE” vs. using its full legal name of the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers. Use of ASHRAE reflects the Society’s worldwide membership and that services will continue evolving globally.
- The ASHRAE Falcon Chapter (AFC) with more than 500 members (Engineers, Architects, Researchers, Academicians, Technicians and Students) is one of the most active chapters in ASHRAE Region-at-Large and is committed to the achievement of technical quality and excellence in all our programs, courses and other activities. The chapter was inaugurated on December 7th, 2003. It covers UAE & Oman regions.
